NACT YOUTH PROJECT

Starting in 2022, the NACT established its own youth project with the aim of creating a space for thinking and learning about “expression” together with teenagers who will be living their lives in this new era. With artists acting as their guide, the six-month program provides teenagers between ages thirteen and eighteen with the opportunity to rediscover their surroundings, expand their perspective of the world, and experience the joy of expressing oneself.

NACT YOUTH PROJECT: SHINBI-JUKU!

NACT Academy 2022:SHINBI-JUKU! is a workshop for and by youth between the ages of 13 and 18 to study artistic expression. Over a half year period, the National Art Center, Tokyo work together with youth to create a space for them to rediscover what’s in their life while expanding their view of the world and learning about the fun of artistic expression.
Artist Shitamichi Motoyuki serves as an academy director. Through the distribution of “weird” distance education kits, artist studio visits, online and offline meetings, behind-the-scenes tours of the museum, and more, this program helps participants find the seeds of creativity buried within themselves and the everyday.
